Back to Home Page Chair: Dr. Sally Malone-Hawkins HISTORY AND GENERAL INFORMATION The Division of Arts and Sciences was created in 2001 under the leadership of Dr. Haywood L. Strickland, President and CEO of Wiley College. The division is administratively made up of three academic areas: Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Social Sciences, and Communications and Performing Arts. The Division of Arts and Sciences offers the Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice, Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice, English, History, Mass Communications, Music, Sociology, and the Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Students are encouraged to follow the curriculum guides included in this Catalog and are expected to understand that completing a degree program successfully may take more than four years. MISSION The mission of the Division of Arts and Sciences is to assist students in acquiring proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing, developing competency in a chosen area of study, cultivating an appreciation for cultural differences, and to provide training in an area of their choice.
